No sequoia will survive here. But I’ll try :-)

My setup

It takes a room, one Ikea bed and a 400W bulb.

1 year old. It really looks a bit sad, but not as sad as these ones…

Last year I collected some cones in the Giant Forest. The seeds were stored in a fridge for 9 months.

Trip 2008!

Next month I will be visiting California again. My main (or only) focus on this trip is seeing and photographing the coastal redwoods and giant sequoias in springtime.

Show in Google Maps (USA2008.kml)

I used the following abbreviations for the trails:

  • Montgomery Grove Trail (MONTGOMERY)
  • Bull Creek Flats Loop (BULL-ROCK)
  • Founders Grove (FOUNDERS)
  • Rockefeller (BULL-ROCK)
  • Trillium Falls Trail (TRILLIUM)
  • James Irvine – Miner’s Ridge Loop (JIRN-FERN)
  • Fern Canyon Loop (JIRN-FERN)
  • Boy Scout Tree (BOYSCOUT)
  • Stout Grove (STOUT)

Being a DSLR-virgin, I am not really sure how the photos will turn out. We’ll see!

In Love in the USA

I got married on Saturday, June 10, 2006. Only three weeks later I fell in love - again. This time with the Giant Sequoia trees of the Mariposa Grove.

This blog will be about the trees, not about my wife.
